Mission

The mission of ELPIDA Youth, a branch of ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with Cancer, is to raise awareness about and support the psychological wellbeing of children suffering from neoplastic diseases. ELPIDA Youth was founded in the summer of 2015 by a group of young members of ELPIDA aspiring to further build on its strong vision with new ideas and activities but always with the same love for the sick child and its family.

Logo’s Symbolism

The logo symbolizes the natural evolution of the Association, powered by love and connecting the past, present and future. The olive tree – the symbol of peace and triumph but also a reflection of Greece, the birthplace of ELPIDA – has roots that are as deep as the Association’s 25-year old legacy and the passion and commitment of its President and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis. The branches depict the aspiration of ELPIDA Youth to expand into additional areas of focus and engage new members, while the heart symbolizes our primary goal: provide psychological support to the children with cancer, help them reclaim some of their lost childhood and warm their hearts.

Objectives 2016-2017

As per the World Health Organization, "health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity"1. For cancer patients, and especially when these are children, emotional support and psychological wellbeing can help both them and their loved ones better manage the disease and its treatment. To that end, during the time period 2016-2017, ELPIDA Youth will be working on two ambitious projects that aim to improve overall quality of life for young patients.

During the above time period and in order to raise both awareness about children’s cancer and funds for our two key projects, we will organize a series of family-friendly events that we look forward to sharing more about. We count on your continuous support to make these events a success and help restore hope and happiness in children’s hearts!
